PRELIMINARY TASK
Preliminary excercise: Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on actiong, shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.
ROUGH CUT
From the rough cut we changed quite a lot of things. One of them being the title credits, although they were efficient we made them more professional looking for the final cut. We also added a production logo to add to this more professional look. As well as changing the font of the title credits, we made them last a couple of seconds shorter as we felt they took up too much time of the opening sequence. Our tutor explained to us that the storyline wasn't as clear as it could be, so we added a couple of more scenes of 'Kate' moving into the house, to make the idea of moving house clear to the audience. This also made up for the time we had lost editing the title credits. We felt that their wasn't much variety of sounds in our rough cut, so we added a few non diegetic sounds to create more suspense and tension, which is what we were aiming for as a key convention of a horror genre.
FINAL CUT
This is our final cut of the opening sequence. We made a few alterations from the rough cut to make the production look more professional. We also added a few extra scenes of 'Kate' moving into a house, to make the storyline clearer for the audience.
